Shower Waste

Shower Waste

After some investigation, I found out that shower traps were not fitted as standard to static caravans. Well, they weren’t in our case anyway.

The problem is how can you stop smells but stop the waste freezing in colder climates?

An addition of a “u-bend” or waste trap is not recommended on static caravans in case the outside trap becomes frozen and causes leaks. On occasions, we had a smell in the bathroom which seemed to come from the drains. After some research, I found information on a waterless drain for showers.

Hepworth Plastics – HepvO

This waste system uses a rubber seal which opens to allow the water to flow, but the seal reseals when water is not flowing. It can be installed horizontally or vertically and can be used in waste systems for sinks, basins. showers and baths.

Fitting

This is a picture from under our static. The HepvO waste is easy to fit you can place it within the shower waste pipes, or directly connected to the shower itself.

As I fitted mine horizontally between the shower waste pipe, you need to make sure the plastic stripes along the edge of the waste are pointing downwards this allows the waste to flow freely when in use. Clicking the link opposite will give you more information on HepvO from the manufacturer’s site itself.
